I got The Little Big Small Business Book the Kindle Edition, this book advice is things that you may not have thought of and it gives you a chance to chew on it a little and then later ask the right questions. this book The Little Big Small Business Book was an interesting read. It covered many subjects in areas and chapters. These included: Accounting, Taxes, Finances, Marketing, Branding and more for the board areas which were than broken down farther into easier to learn little lessons, or chapters. These chapters covered the areas of different types of businesses, different type of accounting set up such as when to and how to deduct expenses, business dept.,

In reading his book I would have to say I was not bored at all and will honestly probably go back and read it again because the information in it is amazing. The advice is things that you may not have thought of and it gives you a chance to chew on it a little and then later ask the right questions. There are certain parts in the book that may not apply to you but I believe anyone that is not a CPA can probably gain some valuable information for this quick read.
This book The Little Big Small Business Book was an interesting read. It covered many subjects in areas and chapters. These included: Accounting, Taxes, Finances, Marketing, Branding and more for the board areas which were than broken down farther into easier to learn little lessons, or chapters. These chapters covered the areas of different types of businesses, different type of accounting set up such as when to and how to deduct expenses, business dept., different types of business owners (which were mainly the penny pitcher and the over spender), reasons of increased audit risks, inventory, kept of employees, perception of the business and perception of the business owner and their relationship, the importance of networking the services which you provide verses what you advertise and promise.

To me personally this book was a bit dry but it covered a lot of very important information which I found quite helpful. I was learning many things which I had absolutely no clue about before reading this book so it is most certainly a helpful book that will be sure to come in handy many times over.

The main lessons that I took from this book that I thought the author bought out were to be careful, know what is going on with the finances of your business, and that it is easy to fall into one (or several) or many pitfalls. It is important to know when to handle something yourself, and how to, as well as it is important to know when to give someone else the reins for a while because one person cannot always do everything themselves and one person is not a professional with proper knowledge of every single little thing.I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest and unbiased review

Good refresher!

I am not going to lie, it took me a while to read this book. i just could not fully commit to it and get engrossed. It had its moments and was helpful, but, but felt more like a refresher from my college days. It was not bad but it did have dry moments. I think it would be great for someone who needs a good starting or jumping off point. I would recommend it as a revamp or refresher too. It's a good read for the price if this is an area you need to do some research in!

An Honest Story

I recently read all the the reviews of the Trapp Family Singers, which I have also read. One of the recurring criticisms of the book is that it paints a dishonest picture or too rosy a picture of Maria and the Trapp family (This book was written in the late 40's or early 50's.) Several reviewers mentioned the recent story on the TV series, Biography, which told what they felt was the "real story." Well, it's a shame that the book, Maria, is now out of print. This book was published in 1972, and Maria is much more honest about her sad childhood, and she does not leave out many unflattering pictures of herself. She also tells about her time of atheism and how she came back to her faith. One part of the book details how "blazing mad" she was with God after she married the Baron, and felt that God had "rejected" her as His bride. In another part she details her deep guilt after her husband's death, since she felt that in many ways she had made his life miserable by her "terrible temper"--she makes it clear that the Captain was the quiet and gentle parent in the family, and also discusses how much she disliked the fact that the "Sound of Music" portrayed him as a stern disciplinarian. Maria also tells how much trouble she had letting go of "control" of the family business and how she feels she made mistakes as both a wife, mother, and grandmother. So, you see, Biography's "expose" really had to come, at least somewhat, from Maria's own words. The only reason I didn't give the book five stars is that, at times, the writing is a little hard follow in that it jumps around. However, I did get the feeling that Maria was talking and reminiscing, which is part of the reason for the "jumpiness." Maria's earlier book was written in a different time when people didn't reveal as much about themselves as they do now. The later book is not a "tell all" but strikes a good balance in that I think Maria genuinely wanted to let people see her strengths and weaknesses and what God could do with such a flawed and imperfect individual.

Delightful Story

We have loved the Von Trapp Family for years and read about parts of their life, knowing Maria had a great part in their story. I heard the family sing in the '50's at a small college here in my neighborhood and remember their quaint costumes and unusual songs. Wanting to read more of Maria's story I searced on Amazzon. What a joy to read the book. It came in great condition in a shorter length of time than expected. It's a story for everybody and you will be surprised at Maria's beginnings as a school girl! What a hoot! And what a delight to read "the rest of the story!"

Maria von Trapp: A Portrait in Self-Contradiction

How do you know when Maria von Trapp is not lying? It is simple. When her lips are not moving. In her first book, written in 1949, she tells of the time she met the Captain and the children for the first time. She describes a scene that is very similar to the scene in the play and in the movie. She even mentions that the Captain used a whistle to call the children.
In this book, she states that the Captain was not at home when she arrived, and that Baroness Matilda introduced the children to her.

A waste of money!

The table of contents of this book is great but the author wrote the book as if the reader should have already known what he was relaying. The book doesn't show you how to write code step by step but assumes that you should already know certain steps and moves on. There are questions which I had on certain chapters because the author wrote it as if I should have known what was being written. After reading this book I was frustrated and discouraged! I wouldn't recommended it to anybody. It's not even worth a penny and I wouldn't accept it if it was given to me for free.

I have a small shelf filled with PHP books. They all helped me a little bit (perhaps I'm just a slow learner.) But it wasn't until I worked through the 24 lessons in this book that I finally began to feel that I was getting a firm grip on the fundamentals of writing solid PHP code. This is the book that turned me from a bumbling amateur to someone on a respectable intermediate level, completely comfortable with reading through more advanced books on PHP (books that go beyond the usual: "here's how to build a simple shopping cart.")

If you're starting out with PHP, I'd recommend that you start with this book of 24 lessons. By the end you'll actually feel competent and that you are sure-footedly headed toward the goal of mastery!

Great book finally learning PHP

I find this book very good at explaining things in detail. I liked the Idea of a book breaking things down into easy to use lessons and that is exactly what this book does. While it does say 24hours it will probably take people a little less than a hour for the first few chapters. I didn't like how it omitted how to install on windows but I already had a development server software in mind so it didn't hurt me. Assuming that this book keeps up with the good work I will probably buy more books from them.
