About the Author
Donald Margulies's plays include Dinner with Friends, Coney Island Christmas, Time Stands Still, Shipwrecked! An Entertainment, Collected Stories, Sight Unseen, Brooklyn Boy, The Loman Family Picnic, God of Vengeance, The Model Apartment, What's Wrong with this Picture? and Found a Peanut. He has won a Lucille Lortel Award, an American Theatre Critics Award, two Los Angeles Drama Critics Awards, two Obie Awards, two Dramatists Guild Hull-Warriner Awards, one Tony Award nomination, six Drama Desk Award nominations, two Pulitzer Prize nominations and one Pulitzer Prize. Note to regional theater artistic directors: if you're going to produce one Chekhov homage this year, make it The Country House

This play was unjustly drubbed by The NY Times. What you can't see in a smug review is the non-critic audiences that were gleefully eating it up. With all due respects to Mr. Durang's humorish Mad magazine send-up of Chekhov, The Country House is an unabashed love letter to Anton. Here's a note to local community theater artistic directors: you are overlooking a gem of a play because Ben Brantley didn't quite like or get it enough. (Read Terry Teachout's review in the Wall Street Journal for an accurate assessment of this play.) You've got a multigenerational cast: the grand dame of the theater, her 40-something son and college age granddaughter, a movie producer (the widower of her late daughter) and his new young girlfriend. Plus a hunky TV actor. It's funny, touching and incredibly charming. I saw this play in L.A. and then in NYC and thought all the while that this was going to be produced by theaters all over America. It's not too late. Read this and see.

The body principle, sarira tattva, is also anatomized using both biological and spiritual sciences to accelerate spiritual practice and to facilitate the understanding on life and death, gross to casual bodies, five sheaths, five vital breaths, three knots, seven energy centers and their working. The most important aspect for readers and seekers is that for the first time they will find the secret techniques of Kriya-yoga, viz., Nabhi Kriya, Khecari mudra, Guru Pranama, Hamsa, prana viksana, Mahamudra, Isvarapranidhana Kriya, Thokar Kriya, Jyoti mudra, Sambhavi mudra, and different techniques of meditation, e.g., Aum, twelve-lettered Vasudeva mantra, inner-matrka and outer-matrka meditations, etc. are revealed, and explained in details citing their illustrations in Upanisads and ancient yogic scriptures and enumerating the rationale and scientific approach behind such practices and benefits involved.

This Kriya Yoga teaches Patience

Right up front, if you are a Kriyaban or interested in this type of Yoga, you want this book. It has good information about the practices and the author is familiar with some of the divergent paths it has taken from Sri Shyama Charan Lahiri Mahasaya's many disciples. He also explains the deeper techniques and enhancements that the Kriyaban eventually practices. But there are drawbacks; it is from India and has those familiar "issues": there are misspelled words, missing spaces between some words, faulty English. For example he sometimes writes "unhurt" instead of "unstruck" or "if" when he means "of" and so on. The beginning of the book is long and tedious to my temperament. In some places, well, several places, he employs copious Sanskrit words throughout the sentences so that it is a chore to just understand what he is saying. I am sure it is fine for the Sanskrit scholar but ... . Yet there are some true gems to be found here. He also goes into good depth regarding some of the experiences one has as they pursue the deeper and more elaborate techniques. I do feel he is not clear enough in explaining some of those techniques but if you already know them or a version of them, you can work it out. There is considerable depth here in understanding the theory behind the techniques. No doubt there are some answers here that have been left out in other sources of this blessed gift of Kriya Yoga.

He who knows not and knows he knows not; educate him.

I like this author he has done what he thinks is best, but sadly this scholarly work is not the Original Kriya Yoga of Lahiri Mahasaya at all.

The Swami also knows this and believes what he has learned is satisfying and also knows that up till now it was impossible to learn the Original Kriya Yoga of Lahiri Mahasaya.

Dear Swamaji, please take a look at Ennio Nimis Website Kriyayogainfo dot net and there you will discover a startling announcement and perhaps have the opportunity yourself to learn the real Kriya Yoga.

After you have learned from an actual Guru from the Swami Pranabananda lineage perhaps you will put out volume two of this scholarly work which I have enjoyed.

Tedious ,too many sanscrit words all over with a Indian flavor translation in english

I was not satisfied with the kryia lessons-techniques given by SRF. Got this book:346 pages: will get some detailed information there!!!! like most of books written by Indians,their english is quite particular. Plus,Swiami Nityananda showers readers with sanskrit words all over, which is annoying to me. I do not get the point of it... perhaps he wants to convince somebody of the authenticity of the source? "tamosadhirdadhire garhamrtviyam tamapo aghim janayanta"..ectect. meaning..."the water or rain gives birth to the fire like a mother." (p.18) If you like this type of explanation, this book is for you... if not,perhaps "Kryia secrets revealed" by Stevens is more for the westeners...If like me, you want to get to a decent kryia lesson, bare with this book,,,,kryia practice chapter starts at page 249,ends at page 341. You will get sanscrit words in the mist of it. Good for concentration and trying to follow the author's train of thought!!!!!!

About the Author
Marie Claire Lim Moore is a Filipina-Canadian-American working mother and author of Don't Forget the Soap. After spending the early part of her childhood in Vancouver, Claire moved to New York City and attended the United Nations International School. She went on to study at Yale, climb the corporate ladder at Citi and travel around the world. She met her husband, Alex, while working in Sao Paulo, Brazil and they married in Manila, Philippines shortly before moving to Singapore. Now Mom to Carlos, Isabel, and Sofia, Claire also manages the Global Client business for Citi in Asia. Claire is regularly ranked among leaders in the Asian-American professional community and her experiences have been written about in The New York Times, USA Today, Smart Parenting, Good Housekeeping and People Asia. She enjoys juggling her thriving career and growing family, fundraising for Filipino community events and promoting work-family balance for women through her talks as well as her writing. Previous speaking engagements have been hosted by Standard Chartered Bank, The Financial Women's Association of Singapore, and MasterCard Asia. In 2014, Claire received the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World Award™ (Global FWN100™) that recognizes Filipina women who are influencing the face of leadership in the global workplace, having reached status for outstanding work in their respective fields, and who are recognized for their leadership, achievement and contributions to society, female mentorship and legacy. Claire is also featured in women's empowerment expert Claudia Chan's Remarkable Women Series along with female role models Arianna Huffington, Tory Burch and Zainab Salbi.

Upbeat and uplifting book

I love how positive and heartwarming this book is and how easy it is to read. It's a timely reminder of how special family is and how all of us can be happier and more fulfilled if we make the most of what we have and live our best lives. Bravo, Ms. Claire Lim Moore! Keep writing and sharing your wonderful stories.

A true, relatable story about a "Positively Filipino" family!

A proper sequel to best-seller Don’t Forget the Soap, Don’t Forget the Parsley is another light read you can finish in one sitting — not because it’s a short memoir, but because you won’t be able to put it down until the last page. What I like about Claire’s writing is she welcomes you into parts of her life as if you’re talking to a close friend over coffee. If DTFS has her mother Lenore as focus, DFTP has more stories and reflections on the author’s father, brother, and husband, which make this book seem a bit more balanced. Which is pretty much the book’s central theme. Those who didn’t grow up with the immigrant experience might relate to more topics here (i.e. pulling a tooth the Filipino way).

Young professionals and those inspired to make something out of their personal and work lives should read this. Her pieces of advice are laid-back, found throughout the book, and mostly from her personal experiences which you’ll find very amusing and helpful. For fathers, mothers, siblings, and best friends. It's a title that can survive many generations. Don’t Forget the Parsley is funny, and a great addition to any family library and gift wish list!

and my favorite is when they gifted their mom with an iPod

I'm not usually fond of sequels, but this book is an exception. I laughed a lot while reading her first book, but this time, in Don't Forget The Parsley, I laughed out LOUD and rolled over many times, too. There are plenty of touching moments as well, and my favorite is when they gifted their mom with an iPod. You'll have to buy the book to find out what happened. You won't regret it.

Reading this book made me want to meet the author's father in person, and shake his hand. I suspect he and my dad would get along very well.

All things considered, this book is a wonderful addition to our family library, and a very nice gift to book-loving, expat friends. I am willing to bet you have at least one of those, too.
