Bradley Equine Ranch is Tessa's pride and joy! Thomas Bradley left Tessa his ranch when he died. All she has ever wanted is to make it the best equine ranch around. However, Tessa has run into tons of problems. It's hard to get respect in this business if you're not packing a penis. She thought things were going great until the local vet discovered forty of her horses are carrying a virus. Tessa had to watch as those horses were loaded onto trailers to be taken to their death. It is definitely the hardest thing she has ever had to do. She didn't think things could get much worse but they do.

Joshua Bradley left his family's ranch a couple of years ago to pursue a career outside of the family business. His only regret about leaving is how he left Tessa. They were so close to something special and then he just left. Now his family's ranch is close to being lost and Tessa needs his help--if she will take it.

Tessa's Pride is full of pride, passion and panache. Olivia Brynn has crafted a beautiful romantic story. Tessa and Josh are both genuine characters. The kind of characters you would picture as your best friends. They are the couple that you will always root for even when they are yelling at each other. Tessa and Josh set the ranch on fire with their heated quarrels and rapturous love making. Thankfully these two are getting a second chance to discover all the wonderful things about each other. However, the true test will be whether or not these two can communicate their feelings for one another successfully. Tessa's Pride is a great strength to her as well as a weakness. She wages a battle within herself; learning when is the right time to hold onto that pride and when to let it go. Josh also takes a path to self discovery during Tessa's Pride. Now that he is back at the family ranch he reevaluates his reasons for leaving. It's funny how when we set aside our pride we are more likely to find the answer to our true happiness. Tessa's Pride is a saucy sweet romance that will leave you smiling.

TESSA'S PRIDE by Olivia Brynn is an interesting modern western romance. It is the first book I have read by this author but will not be the last. It has everything a reader could want. It has romance,hot sex,deception, mystery,horse ranch,horse breeding,ranch life,and finding love. When Tessa McCade,loses must of her horses due to an EIA breakout,she is about to give in.But enter Josh Bradley the son of the late owner.He left the ranch a couple of years earlier.His father left the Bradley Equine Ranch to Tessa. Josh is determined to find out what happened and try to help Tessa. Josh and Tessa has a past,but nothing to what their future holds.
They attraction and passion makes sparks fly while they try figure out what to do next.This is a fast paced,quick read that has hot sex,and a passion for horses with a deep connection between Josh and Tessa.This book was received for the purpose of review from Net Galley and the publisher. I like horses so I bought the book for the cover. Never having read a story by Olivia Brynn, it was kind of an impulse buy. I was really surprised and delighted. Ms. Brynn reminds me of Linda Howard's work--sparks flying between a strong macho male and an intelligent woman as they deal with a suspense filled situation. In this case it was a terrible equine disease that caused the loss of Tessa's stable full of horses. I can't say more, too many spoilers, but, I'm looking for more work by Olivia Brynn to see if I've found an auto-buy author.

About the Author
James R. Evans is a professor in the Department of Operations, Business Analytics, and Information Systems in the Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati. His served as president of the Decision Sciences Institute 1997-1998 and 11 years on the Board of Examiners and Panel of Judges for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. He has been editor of the Quality Management Journal, published by the American Society for Quality, and served on editorial boards of numerous other journals. Dr. Evans has published more than 90 refereed papers and more than 30 editions of books. During the annual Quality Congress in May 2004, the American Society for Quality presented Dr. Evans and co-author Bill Lindsay with the Philip B. Crosby Medal for writing THE MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL OF QUALITY, 6E. The Crosby medal was presented "for authoring a distinguished book contributing significantly to the extension of the philosophy and application of the principles, methods, and techniques of quality management."

William M. Lindsay is Professor Emeritus of Management at Northern Kentucky University. In addition to coauthoring eight editions of MANAGING FOR QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE EXCELLENCE (including predecessors), he is the coauthor of TOTAL QUALITY AND ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT. He served as an examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for four years, as a judge for the Kentucky Quality Award for five years, and as a judge for the Seasongood Innovation Awards for the city of Cincinnati for three years. He is a senior member and past president of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, past president of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Association for Quality and Participation, and a member of the American Society for Quality, in addition to other professional organizations. Dr. Lindsay continues to teach MBA courses in quality management and project management. He serves as a board member of CLASP, a local nonprofit after-school program for elementary-age children, and is an active volunteer at his church. He earned a BSIE from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an MS in engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and an MBA and Ph.D. from Georgia State University.

This covers the general history of quality assurance, especially in the last 100 years, and does a good job of presenting numerous case studies with often recent examples in manufacturing and services. Used as a textbook in classes, it is also an excellent reference book.

Do not buy the Kindle version if you can help it.

While I'm interested in the subject and the book is good, the format is terrible in ways that while I'll try to describe, I won't be able to fully express. On the kindle for pc if I scroll my mouse wheel it moves down 1. A nice, smooth big roll of the wheel? 1. Then the end of the page comes like a wall, taking extra effort to move to the next page.

Reading on my kindle is no better. You can't change the pages like you would with a normal book. To read the pages at all I have to resize every single page, again and again.

With this book I will learn some things about quality, but my big take away will be to never order a Cengage eTextbook. In fact, I'll never take or encourage anyone to take a class in which they can't buy a used cengage book.

In short, I'm spending more time fighting changing pages than absorbing knowledge. I have never been so disappointed with a book in my life. Were I rating this book solely on content it would rate much higher, but as it is, I must give it one star. Ironic that many of the points in this textbook apply to the situation I've found myself in. My expectations were not met, and there is no mechanism for even the slightest satisfaction. I regret that as this is a digital version, I cannot burn it.

OK, we needed this for a Post Grad class. If you taken many, the choices of material is set. This book is not really bad, but it is not mind blowing either. If you have never had any quality or PE training, then this is maybe a better book. From my perspective it is a little low for a grad class.

Forsythe’s digitally rendered art is hilariously expressive and laugh-worthy in its own right, and it is well-paired with Lehrhaupt’s spare comic text, successfully creating a book that is enjoyable both to read and behold.

"Maybe you should put this book back. You don't want to let the monkeys out," the book begins. Matthew Forsythe (My Name Is Elizabeth!) draws a wide-eyed monkey on a sign that says "DANGER." When children inevitably turn the page, they are greeted with, "Why did you turn the page? Didn't you see the warning? Stay on this page. You are safe here." Signs that read "Stop," "Go Back" and "U-Turn," plus barbed wire and orange pylons, suggest that readers proceed at their own risk. On the next page, a monkey appears from stage right ("Oh, no. Now you've done it"); others follow. They parade onto the pages wielding paint cans, tubes of paint and brushes ("What a mess! Naughty monkeys"). While the story warns against impending doom, children will delight in the consequences of each page turn; the monkeys' artwork results in a lush and tropical landscape of gold, forest green and burnt orange. Purchased this book for our kids. They love to laugh and really enjoy interactive, humorous books. This one is interactive but it's not funny like I had expected. It's actually kind of dull. I mean, we still read it but they don't enjoy it as much as our other books.

Mobile Digital Tools can dramatically improve your productivity

About a year ago, I attended a workshop by Simon where he convinced me to get rid of paper and only use digital tools on my PC, iPad and iPhone. It has been a wonderful, cathartic experience to get rid of my extensive paper filing system and library and go fully digital. Most importantly, the adoption of digital tools has dramatically improved my productivity. Simon's book has inspired me to renew my efforts on my journey in improving my digital intelligence and productivity by fully embracing and learning the new generation mobile based tools. Simon has provided a compelling, well structured and well written book on why and how I need to go about this endeavour. Only by fully embracing, learning and sensibly applying the right mobile tools will any person in business be agile to adapt to the challenges and opportunities in today's complex and volatile business world.

Food for thought...

Simon Waller's book 'Analogosaurus', provides a compelling take on the importance of moving with the digital times. Whether you're in to 'all things technology' or not, you simply can't deny the logic in this book and Simon makes it easy to get on board the digital transformation bandwagon.

Simon gently walks us through the case for building digital intelligence, employing a mix of logical arguments, interesting stories and easy to grasp metaphors. His passion for the topic is obvious and his writing style clear and organised. And if you read to the very last page you will be treated to his wit and quirky sense of humour!

A great achievement Simon. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us and for providing the gentle prod to stay relevant, enjoy the rewards of digital intelligence and make our digital goals realistic.

Change - Or Go Extinct!

I work in computer software, so this book looked very interesting to me. I find it to be well written (but poorly printed), with a timely message, but somewhat lacking towards the end. It is an enjoyable read for anyone who expects to get along in tomorrow's business world.

This book is a timely warning about how the modern world is going further and further into the digital realm, and how out of touch many people are to where the future is heading. I like the author's style, which is relaxed and very compact - he gets out a lot of information is a short space. I found myself rereading the text sometimes to be sure I got all the information that is packed in here. The first part of the book is really great, detailing the past 20 years and how vital it is to change one's perception and manner of working - or risk being left behind as computers take over the mundane tasks of work. This part is timely and scary.

He then launches into a discussion of how to be different (Relevant, Rewarding, and Realistic, as he labels it). This section is full of interesting ideas, but to my mind none of them are fleshed out sufficiency. It is as if I'm reading a "Reader's Digest" version of the tale - I wanted more details, discussion, and facts. The reader is going to have to do more than just read to implement this stuff - but maybe that is the point, after all! Some of the items may show up in a future book, as the author freely confesses that some information would take volumes to really discuss. Personally, I'd like to read those volumes.

The last part is a glimpse into two possible futures that technology could be leading us into. One is great, the other scary. I suspect the truth is that both futures are going to come to pass, a possibility that the author does not seem to consider.

The author is well read on the subject, and there is a good list of references at the end for continued reading.

The printing has a serious problem - the text is literally faint; the printing should be bolder. When the author does long quotes in italics, the text is nearly unreadable. I hope that a future version uses a darker font for all purposes. This is very important because the book is aimed at the "analogosaurus", i.e., the person currently resisting the digital tide that is engulfing all workers. Those folks are going to read hard copy, not the E-Books!

The author does not have a technical viewpoint - he looks into the world of IT as an outsider. While he understands the issues, I can tell that he is working off of research rather than an in depth understanding of programming and the digital world. Perhaps this is for the better - his target audience is exactly those people who do not understand computing, and are resisting the changes that could revolutionize their working world. But I found it interesting to read because I do understand many of the things that he seems talk about rather than fully understand. I think the book is well written for the target audience, but if you understand IT you will chuckle a few times.

Summary: A timely tale that should be required reading of anyone in business.

I followed the captive series and was excited to find yet another book. Jacks and Hannah's love is exciting. It was also great to take a look back at the other characters to see what everyone has been up too. Great read!!!!!

Another Great Book In The Captive Series

Ms. Stevens has written another great one! The Captive series is one of my favorites, even though it isn't something you'd find in my usual genres. Although I knew that I would read this book just because I love the series so much, I didn't expect that it would appeal to me as much, since the story wasn't centered around Braith and Aria. Honestly, I had prepared myself to be disappointed and possibly part ways with the series. I just couldn't fathom that anything could compare to the intense and forbidden love story that unfolded between Braith and Aria. I'm glad to say that I was pleasantly surprised!

Jake and Hannah's story is beautiful and endearing. I didn't want to put it down. I loved that their story was their own, and not a retelling of Braith and Aria's with the names changed. Yes, there were some similarities, such as the "bloodlink" bond, but the story was definitely original.

As I read more about Jake, aka Jericho, I grew to like him more and more. He was sweet, compassionate and fiercely loyal. The story provides many details about his time with the rebels through Jake's flashbacks. It was nice to have those holes from the prior books in the series filled in, and to see these events from his perspective.

Hannah was immediately likable and seemed to be the female version of Jake in many ways. It was gratifying to see each of these wonderful characters find the love and adoration they so deserved. I am so glad that I went along for the ride!

This 5th book in the series met and exceeded my expectations. Jack was already one of my favorite characters. Watching him struggle with heavy choices broke my heart and made me smile. You'll love every minute.
