This book has been on my tbr list for months and I finally broke down. This book is beautifully written, well structured, and well developed.
Talon is a marine veteran with secrets and damage going back to way before his time in Iraq. His sister Marj and his brothers are determined to get him help, but his help came in the form of Marj's best friend Jade.

Without giving too much away, simply put this book is a must read and I am truly looking forward to book 2! It ends with a huge cliffhanger!

I can not believe this series received so many five star rating! Who ever compared this to Fifty Shades obviously never read that book or series. Do yourself a favor and DON'T get sucked in.

With all of the great ratings, I bought Craving. The Steel Brothers Saga, I thought three brothers, three books. OH NO!! Three books for ONE story, and I HATE HATE HATE books that end in cliffhangers,
but I continued thru all three to finish a book I started, THEN book 3 ends leaving you hanging!!

NO WAY will I buy 9 books at this price to get one complete story.

Tony Hawk is the bestselling author of Hawk: Occupation: Skateboarder. In the 1999 X Games, Tony landed the first 900 degree arial turn in skateboarding history. A stunt he had been working on for years. He has released three video games for playstation: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. He lives in Carlsbad, California, with his wife and three children.

Sean Mortimer was the editor of Skate -- boarder magazine and coauthored Hawk: Occupation: Skateboarder with Tony Hawk. He lives in Oceanside, California, with his wife and son.

Tony Hawk Professional Skateboarder - Great Book

I like the book because when I read it it helped me land new tricks. I learned a lot about Tony Hawk. He would never give up and he would always try to land tricks no matter what. He wanted to get better and that told me that it doesn't matter how much pain you are in when you land it. It is all worth it because now you have a new trick. He also did not let what other people thought influence him. He wanted to be a skateboarder when it was not cool, but he did not care. He knew what he liked to do and did it.

After I read the book, I was all pumped up. Whenever I would go to the gap I would always try to land this trick that I couldn't do and then after I read the book I said to myself it is worth it no matter how bad I fell just get up unless you break something, and after I said that then I went for it and did my all, and I landed the trick on my third try and from there on I have been landing all of my tricks and become a better skateboarder.

I think that every skateboarder should read this book because it will inspire them a lot like it has inspired me. Before I read this book I thought that Tony Hawk was just a pro skateboarder and I thought that he wasn't that good. When I read this book that my friend recommended, I said to him that I didn't like Tony Hawk that much, and he said just read it. So I went to the libary and checked it out. Then, I got into it. I found out that he wasn't a poser or a loser that he all he wanted to do was get kid skateboarders into it and to teach them and help them out with their skating. Because of all his success, he is able to do a lot to help kids all over the world. He is a cool guy and this is a great book.

When Tony Hawk was still a young boy, his older brother gave him his first skateboard. This was the beginning of a skateboarding star. Tony became a professional skateboarder at the early age of 14. I chose to read this autobiography on Tony Hawk because as a fan of Tony, I am interested in the sport of skateboarding and am amazed by how many accomplishments Tony has made in his life because of skateboarding. For Tony, skateboarding was an activity that shaped his life and helped him succeed.

Tony Hawk was not an ordinary child growing up. When he picked up the sport of skateboarding, he had so much energy. He had a lot of determination that came out whenever he was doing anything that had to do with competition. His parents encouraged him and were supportive from the start. This support of his parents helped him follow his dreams and become what he is today, a professional skateboarder.

Skating taught him the meaning of focus and perseverance. If at first he did not succeed, he would try and try again. He would get hurt many times trying to learn new tricks. He knocked out his front teeth more than twice. Getting hurt didn't bother him because he knew he sometimes had to pay a price to learn a new trick, and once he landed the new trick, he knew that all that pain was worth it.

The more time he spent on the skateboard, the more it built up his confidence. It didn't bother him that he wasn't the popular guy at school, or that he didn't have many friends or a girl friend, all he cared about was being with other skaters at the park and having fun learning new tricks. When Tony was growing up, skateboarding was unpopular and it was considered a geeky thing to do that only weirdo's and nerds did. He was teased by his classmates for skateboarding, and he did not fit in like the other kids at school. His clothes were torn and beaten from skateboarding, and he always had scabs on his knees and elbows- but he did not care. In his book, Tony said "I worked out any problem by skating". His confidence and his love for skateboarding helped him get through the rough times in his life.

Tony Hawk had never expected to make a career out of skateboarding. His fame never interfered with his skating. The reason he lasted so long as a professional skateboarder is because he was always thankful for what skateboarding had done for him growing up. Skateboarding taught him self-discipline at a young age and helped him control his frustrations and turn them into something useful and positive. All in all, skateboarding made Tony succeed in his life.

I love stories of triumph and I love to see the good guys win. This book chronicles the journey of a successful entrepreneur BUT, it also outlines the steps for success that can be replicated by all who are seeking the process of success. The struggles are universal. We can all relate to. It is an easy read. I finished it in two days in my spare time, but keep referring back to it as I implement the steps in the process. Practical and Relevant I recommend this book for all small business owners or students.
I got to meet Dr. Corey and he has a genuine love to care for all people.

I cannot follow his meanings as closely as I'd like. I suppose this is not a problem for ...

This long out of print history of Art Academies is finally available at a reasonable cost. I bought one right away. The quality of this reprinting is decent. Thank you to Cambridge University Press for making it available.

As to the text itself, there is one HUGE caveat.. that Pevsner's writing style uses A LOT of quoted passages in foreign languages, with NO TRANSLATION. The languages I have come across so far are Italian (a lot of these), Latin, German, and French. Sometimes he quotes entire paragraphs in a foreign language. Since I don't speak these language, I cannot follow his meanings as closely as I'd like. I suppose this is not a problem for Pevsners audience of academic art historians from the 1940s... whom I presume spoke many European languages... but if you (like me) do not.... you will find it strangely alienating. You are forced to just SKIP IT AND MOVE ON... LOL... it's kind-a weird.

But anyway... the book is excellent despite this.

Over all, and indepth. Very good to excallant!

One of the most intense, and accurate histories of this fine, and magnificant fighting force. He doesn't pull any punchies when dealing with the history of the Country of France, and the early history of their: "Foreign Legion". He has done a exremely good job with this book! The only real critisim may be in some miss identificatiion of some of the weapons, and the calibers used therein. AK-47's didn't come into the Indo-China Pennisula, and South Viet-Nam until about the mid-sixties, and then on. Some of the larger calibers were attirubued to the anti-aircraft variety. Maybe, they were used in the attacks? I would never condemn them. After having been such a situation I would recommend any and all to read this fine military history. Find out what "Patria Legio Nostra" really means. Thank you. --JeanPierre

Decent book.

The book is written a bit oddly by starting with the Indochina war that would end up being the US Vietnam War. An excellent compilation of the history of thr French Foreign Legion, it covers the high points of the FFL history and gives a glimpse of the struggles that forged one of the finer fighting forces in the world. Still, parts of the book feel directionless, possibly due to the directionless nature of the Legion in its history. The author definitely drives in the idea that the legion is the successful black sheep of the French armed forces.

Great Overview!

The Firefly series of books include smaller telescope and binocular handbooks which are also a great addition to your library. An encyclopedic beautifully illustrated and well written overview of stargazing. Highly recommended especially if you want to get a good idea of astronomy as a personal hobby.

Ties well with "nightwatch" by Terrence Dickinson

This ties well with Terrence Dickinson's "NightWatch" If you're a beginner trying to earn constellations, I believe Terrence's "Nightwatch" is better at explaining that topic. Once you get comfortable with the constellations, you will want this book because it tells you month-to-month which constellations are in the sky and which DSO's (nebulas, star cluster, galaxies) are in the constellation AND the pictures of each DSO. I bring it outside with me when I'm scoping the night sky as a reference so that when I am focused on a DSO, I know what I'm looking at. It also has an in-depth dictionary of astronomical terms. This is a great guide to learn DSO's (deep space objects). As an amateur astronomer, I highly recommend this book, and I'm glad I bought it!

He reminds the world that the prophecies of Revelation were written by the Apostle John, and it was John, who after using his dark powers to survive for 2000 years, is responsible for the near annihilation of the planet. Riveting Finale Of A Monumental Work

By the end of "Birth of an Age," book two of the Christ Clone Trilogy, author James BeauSeigneur has you on the edge of your seat, expecting anything and anticipating what will happen next; you're primed for something big, something monumental, and you wonder if he can possibly deliver on the promise of the first two books and the expectation you have going into the third and final installment of the series. Well, sit back and hold on, because with "Acts of God," BeauSeigneur certainly does deliver, and more. And, whereas the first two books evoked a sense of Asimov, Crichton and Melville, this one brings to mind Stephen King's epic novel, "The Stand," as it clearly leads you to a conclusion that can be nothing less than the final showdown between the forces of Good and Evil.
As it begins (and as BeauSeigneur did previously, the opening chapter is actually the final chapter of the second book), the prophets John and Cohen are dead, and the resurrected Christopher Goodman, now Secretary-General of the U.N., is poised to lead Humankind into the New Age, with promises of a long and healthy life with renewed youth and vigor for everyone, as well as world peace. And to help him spread the good news, there is his loyal press secretary, Decker Hawthorne, and his own prophet of the New Age, Robert Milner.
For Christopher, everything seems to be going well; without the disruptive influences of John and Cohen, all of his aspirations are being realized, as people around the world are embracing him and the tenets of the New Age. But not everyone; there is still the Koum Damah Patar, the "KDP," and the cliques of fundamentalist Christians who adamantly oppose him and seem bent on clinging to the past, no matter what the cost. Meanwhile, amid a series of world-wide, devastating plagues, Decker Hawthorne is confronted with circumstances that rattle his faith and for the first time cause him to question the very foundation of the mission he has undertaken in Christopher's name; and ultimately, it will force him to make the hardest decision of his life.
Though a work of fiction, BeauSeigneur presents his story with such logic and acuity that is seems, not only believable, but very real. And he writes with a concise, universal voice that makes the material accessible to everyone; you don't have to be a theologian to appreciate the magnitude and the ramifications of the conflict that is played out here. It's a riveting, intense and suspenseful tale, but beyond all of that, there is an inherently moral message that comes through succinctly and quite effectively.
It's been a long time since I was this excited about a novel (and by that I mean the trilogy); BeauSeigneur has done an extraordinary job of creating a story of such tremendous ethical and moral proportions, and presenting it in an exciting and objective way. In the final analysis, "Acts of God," is an affecting novel that for some just may prove to be a veritable life-changing experience. It certainly was for me.

Unquestionably the best fiction treatment of the end times

I have been interested in prophecy for more than 30 years. As such, I've read some very good and some very bad fiction and non-fiction treatments on the subject. One of the best non-fiction books I've read is FOOTSTEPS OF THE MESSIAH by Arnold Fruchtenbaum. Unquestionably the very best fiction treatment I've read is THE CHRIST CLONE TRILOGY.
Because of my interest in the subject, and because I spend most of my day on the Internet, I spend a lot of time on various prophecy web sites. I read about TCCT on PhopheZine.com, which gave BeauSeigneur's books glowing reviews. Of course the best known books on the subject are the LEFT BEHIND books by LeHaye and Jenkins, but lately I've seen people talking about TCCT more and more places. Usually when people discuss an idea that originated with BeauSeigneur, they cite him or mention TCCT. But even when they don't, you can tell they've read TCCT because the ideas are so completely original.

Great Conclusion to a Great Trilogy

Before I started book three of the series, I was worried. Could Mr. BeauSeigneur keep it up? Book two was fantastic, so I was worried this one would be a letdown. Rest assured, this isn't the case. Book Three was a great conclusion to the story.
The Anti-Christ finally makes his appearance(of course, he's been there all along, but you'll see what I mean when you read the book) and, undoubtably, his true plan is finally revealed. For those of you who were wondering just where the author was going with all the new age stuff, be faithful. It will all make sense in the end.
I particularly liked the theme of redemtion in this novel. I don't want to give too much away, so I will not say more, but I think you will be as pleased as I was.
Finally, I enjoyed the way BeauSigneur handled Armaggedon and the appearance of Jesus. To be honest, this is a point at which the author could have overdone it, but, as always, he hit the nail on the head. If you enjoyed the previous two books in the series, you will enjoy this one as well. Rating:4.5 Stars

About the Author

Maryanne Kearny Datesman is the author of several ESL reading texts. She has taught ESL and administered programs at Western Kentucky University and American University, and she has taught also at Georgetown University. In Kentucky, she established and administered a private language school and directed programs for refugees. She was co-founder of Kentucky TESOL and is a former president of WATESOL.

JoAnn (Jodi) Crandall is a professor of education at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. At UMBC she had co-directed the master's program in ESOL/Bilingual Education and directed the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Language, Literacy and Culture. She is a former president of TESOL and AAAL (American Association for Applied Linguistics) and a frequent speaker at national and international conferences.

Edward N. Kearny is professor emeritus of government at Western Kentucky University. He earned his Ph.D. in government from American University in 1968. He also holds a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's degree in psychology, and he has written a number of books and articles on American politics.

very good book

I wish I had bought this book long time ago. It explains where american customs, behaviors, values etc. come from and makes it easy to understand why people here act how they act. Would recomend to everybody who is interested in American culture or wants to visit. For someone who is moving over here it's a must! People here are much different than in Europe (where I come from) and I would have been much less frustrated if I had bought this book earlier. The language used in this book is easy and the more difficult words are explained on the bottom.

American culture from the outside

I used this book recently teaching an advanced ESL class, and I found it as interesting for me as it was for the students. The chapters are organized around a set of principles that, in the authors' view, define American society and culture, and it's written specifically for foreign born residents of the US. Among the subjects treated are religion in the US, American business, the West and the frontier tradition, race, families, the legal system, etc. It was fascinating for me to read along with my students from a fresh perspective. An American might argue with the nuances--is there really a "national religion" of belief in God and patriotism, for example? I'm not sure I'd call it that, but that's only a detail. I can even see this book being used in a high school history course--I thought the explanations of the links between history and culture were fascinating. Highly recommended.

American Ways provides thoughtfully descriptive and critical insights to a general understanding of american culture, not only for students intending to live in the USA, but also for students taking a discussion course in advanced English or who want to pursue a future career as english teachers. Given the inherent link that develops between language and culture, this textbook provides a huge variety of culturally sensitive activities raging all linguistic skills, that help the students reflect on the importance and impact of american culture in their lives; making them create meaningful connections with their own cultural backgrounds and countries of origin. It also gives both, teacher and students, the possibility to explore intenet resources, literature suggestions and film affinities that can contribute to the full completion of a powerful course on the comprehension of the United Sates' construction of history, society, and culture. Easy to read, critical and fun. Nicely updated to our current times.
