There is a very few content but hotel descriptions

I booked hotels on the island and want to have a guide book to plan my sightseeing route. The book does not suite for it. It provides lodging descriptions. Why? I can find all them in Internet before booking. Who needs this?

The structure is poor. It is hard to find valuable information among garbage.

Maps and photos are good. That is why I set 2 stars not 1.

Helpful Guide

There appear to be very few guides for all of Vancouver Island. This guide is selective with focus on places that Eric Lucas feels are most worthwhile and does a good job of listing better lodging and restaurants. Easy to follow with adequate maps. You may need more detail on specific area of interest that will be available on the internet. Very good guide with nice photos but you will need to do some work to gather all that is needed for your visit.

This is the most practical stretching guide book ever! The section 1 occupies almost 1/3 of the entire book, and even beginners can learn the pragmatic mechanism of stretching therapy while looking at these visual medical data!! The section 2 including over 180 pages is the most organized and educational textbook! This book shows how to approach and stretch these major and minor muscles with a lot of illustrations and instructions!! Moreover, there are some detail cautions when we work on our clients. This manual book is absolutely "MUST BUY"! As a massage therapist, this is the book that I've been waiting for!!

STRETCHING THERAPY

This is a fantastic book if you are a manual therapist and looking for different stretches to do with your clients.
The detailed instruction for the various stretches as well as warnings where appropriate is great.
I was hesitant to purchase at first due to the price thinking that there may be other books out there to give me what I was looking for at a lower cost, but I'm glad I broke down and got it.

Alan A. Cavaiola, PhD, is a professor and member of the graduate faculty in the department of psychological counseling at Monmouth University. He is also a licensed psychologist and clinical alcohol and drug counselor. He is the coauthor of Toxic Coworkers and Impossible to Please.

Good resource to start to explore toxic people/work environments

Overall, the book is okay. It frames the topic by exploring classifications of personality disorders and then subcategorized into supervisor, coworker and subordinate. I don't entirely like the scope of trying to dx personality disorders in the work context, but still found the analysis and break down of personalities to be useful and to provide assistance in identifying the styles or traits. This text does not provide in-depth methods to resolve conflicts and difficulties, but touches on suggestions.

I thinks it's a good resource type text, particularly if you supervise shorter term staff (interns, temp, contact term), and would agree that it is something that would be useful to assist someone who's in the beginning steps of trying to understand and work in a toxic environment or with toxic people in the environment.

Excellent "Handbook" for navigating toxic personalities

"Toxic Coworkers" was an easy read, and it delivers what the cover promises: "How to Deal with Dysfunctional People." Covering all the major players- all 10 of the personality disorders described by the DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), it is an excellent resource for identifying exactly what type of problematic personality you might be dealing with, allowing the reader to then focus their search for additional literature pertaining to the specific personality disorder at hand.

Not only do the authors provide realistic and DO-ABLE solutions and strategies, their advice is organized by both which disorder you are dealing with, as well as the reader's relationship with the personality-disordered individual. (i.e. Boss/Administrator, Coworker, or Subordinate.) Additionally the book can be used as a guide for dealing with other toxic personalities in your life- a "parent" can substitute for the boss, a sibling or neighbor for "coworker", or a child for the "subordinate."

If you already know which disorder you are up against, you can jump to the appropriate chapter and start learning right away. I was able to start implementing solutions for dealing with a personality-disordered relative the same day!

This publisher needs to fire the editors of this book, as there were many small typos and grammatical errors, but don't judge the book on this alone. I am an educated adult with a background in scientific research, and found the authors to back up their ideas with solid information and strategies... that are already proving successful for me.

As a side-note, if you are seeking information about sociopaths (Antisocial Personality Disorder), I highly recommend this book along with The Sociopath Next Door by Martha Stout. If you are seeking help in dealing with a Narcissistic personality, I again highly recommend both this book, along with Joan Lackhar's How to Talk to a Narcissist. Both Stout and Lackhar offer understandable insight and sound advice backed by strong research and building on both accepted literature from experts who have come before them the past 50 years, as well as more recently discovered data.

I cannot recommend it enough for people who

This book saved my sanity at work. I cannot recommend it enough for people who, like me, work surrounded by drama and other behavioral issues. It helped me become aware of my thoughts as well which helped me see things differently. People at work are the same but their behavior does not take up nearly as much space in my mind as it used to.

Xun Wu is Assistant Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, specializing in policy reforms in developing countries, with emphasis on social and environmental sectors.

M Ramesh is Professor of Social Policy at the University of Hong Kong. His teaching and research are concentrated in public policy, social policy, and political economy in Asia.

Michael Howlett teaches at the Simon Fraser University, Canada and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. His areas of specialization include public policy analysis, political economy, and resource and environmental policy.

Scott A. Fritzen is Associate Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, specializes in governance reform and capacity strengthening in developing countries.

Succint and detailed

Great book on the stages of the policy process. A bit on the short side, but there is an extensive bibliography at the end of each chapter. The explanations are common sense and easy to follow, and the author provides excellent examples to describe the various stages. There is also advice for policy managers and those involved in the processes and offers important advice on what to do (and not to do). Highly recommend for those who are studying public administration/policy.
