Very useful, but not for beginners.

This is not a How-To manual. This book outlines many methods of statistical analysis, for univariate, bivariate and multivariate datasets. It discusses what the various analyses are useful for in paleontology studies and gives some case studies. The buyer needs some knowledge of statistics, or needs to use other sources of information if basic knowledge is required. Its a very useful book and gives links to a free statistical software package, PAST. Again, this software needs some previous knowledge of statistics to be used.
There are some minor errors, I noted a few figures were incorrectly numbered in the text.

the best introductory textbook

This book is well organized, very easy to understand. I think it can be used as introductory textbook for senior undergraduate student who is interested in evolution and paleontology.
It would be better if the authors can include more information about diversity change, life-and-death mole as well as comparative phylogenetic analysis etc.
finally, I learned a lot from this this book!
